#BeAKidAgain
Let’s face it adulting is hard…sometimes I just want to #BeAKidAgain, don’t you?
Before the dawn of Facebook, an unfathomable universe to many a millennial, as kids we “friended” each other by swapping lunch. Or in my case trading troll dolls, c’mon those were the coolest ugliest dolls next to the cabbage patch kids.

Lady Lovelylocks was my idol, Bart Simpson’s rap song was a hit, marbles, scrabble and playing forts were the thing to do.
Life was simpler then.
Unlike the unanswered blue ticks glaring back at you, when you called someone, from the phone on the wall, and there was no answer, you’d just hang up ‘cos you knew they were simply not home.
We found pleasure in simple things.
We used our imagination instead of apps.
The unbridled enthusiasm of my youth and an uncapped imagination led me to faraway lands slaying dragons and conquering magical kingdoms.
Remember when…
- R2 ZAR bought you a fistful of gumballs, a couple of soap bars, some fireballs, warheads, and a few fizzers and you still had change left over?
- MC Hammer and Vanilla Ice were still cool and you knew ALL the lyrics to ALL their songs? Alright stop collaborate and listen
- He carried your school books and sent you heart shaped love letters during class?
- When you got all your general knowledge from the inside of a Chappies wrapper about 20 BG (that’s 20 years Before Google)
- The GPS you resorted to was the 102 page map book in your car (mind you I still have one of those in my trunk…just in case)?
- You used a pencil to rewind your audio cassette and pressed pause between radio adverts to record the Top 40
