Evening glowing ambiance at Chinchilla Rooftop bar

Chillin’ at Chinchilla

Chillin’ at Chinchilla is the ideal way to spend any balmy summer’s evening in Cape Town.

With magical sunsets, killer cocktails, friendly service and just the right amount of boho seaside chic, the Kove Collection‘s newest hotspot in Camps Bay does not disappoint!

Super excited to try out one of Cape Town‘s most Instagrammableย eateries; when the invitation was extended to me, how could I say no to chillin’ at Chinchilla?

The Vibe

Oozing with effortless island chic, the brightly scattered cushions and woven basket lights hang from a reed roof reminiscent of some far-flung beach bar on some remote island. The electric chatter of the eclectic crowd, my senses dancing to Dj Tess’s pulsating rhythmsย as she performed live on the deck all added to the incredible ambiance as we watched the sun slowly slip away beneath the palm trees.

Rooftop Regales

Located in the renowned Camps Bay promenade, this laid-back rooftop bar boasts a small but tasty bistro-style menu. Their cocktail and drinks menu, on the other hand, is slightly more robust, with drinks prices ranging from the pocket-friendly to a little more otherworldly.

Starting off with a sundowner my partner, tried the Waves of Ginger Cocktail, whilst I opted for a classic Bellini. I normally do not drink, but I made a celebratory exception this evening chillin’ at Chinchilla.

Waves of Ginger & Bellina Sundowners at Chinchilla

As deep in conversation as we were, soaking up every drop of sunshine, our tummies roared louder and we just had to appease them.

Bistro Fare

Our friendly and attentive waiter spoiled us with an array of delicious, yet healthy nibbles. Yes, you will find banting friendly options here.

Steak Bearnaise and fries

We tucked into a wholesome crudite platter for starters, followed by steak bearnaise for my partner and a juicy thick homemade beef cheeseburger for moi. Can I just say right here, compliments to the Chef again, the meat in both meals was exquisitely prepared! The bearnaise sauce was just heavenly and my partner eagerly cleared his plate!

Last but certainly not least, we simply had to try dessert to round off our Chinchilla experience. Chocolate brownie and Creme brulee classics were on the cards, and definitely hit all the right spots!

As we sadly waddled out of Chinchilla, tummies full, hearts heavy we vowed to hit up this hotspot again.

Thank you for the invitation to experience and enjoy drinks and dinner at your lovely establishment. In the words of Arnie: “I’ll be back!”
