You can imagine how excited I was to visit the home of two of my favourite South African Wines; Pierre Jourdan Tranquille Blush and Haute Cabriére Chardonnay Pinot Noir and Haute Cabriére Blanc de blanc…best make that three favourites. 😉
Haute Cabriére produces several wines under their two ranges, Haute Cabriére and Pierre Jourdan, from two cultivars namely Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. recently they have also added an aperitif Pierre Jourdan Ratafia which is the only one produced in South Africa!
Dating as far back as 1694 when French Huguenot Pierre Jourdan was granted a piece of land and decided to name it Cabriére after his hometown, to present day run and owned by the Von Arnim family.
We were treated to a sabrage on the front lawn by General Manager Takuan, a cellar tour, and exquisite lunch right by the fireplace.

Tasting Room at Haute Cabriére
The Star created on the cellar ceiling from a chandelier made of 30 empty Dom Perignon bottles drunk by the Von Arnims on the birth of their son Takuan Von Arnim (now manager of the Estate)

This stunning estate not only makes fine wines, but is also quite popular with brides come wedding season. With it’s picturesque sweeping mountain views it’s not hard to see why.
