Introducing #MancrushMonday : Richard Haubrich
#MancrushMonday is a FABULOUS new series dedicated to showcasing some seriously inspiring men that have crossed my path. Previously on my #jaxpirational series I gave the ladies some props, it’s time the men got a shout out!
I have worked creatively with Richard in the past and I so appreciate him taking time out of his busy schedule to chat with me. So without further adieu let me introduce:
Tell us a bit about yourself
I am a social media entrepreneur and content creator passionate about travel, digital media, health, and entrepreneurship. I believe in building & investing in scalable, data-driven businesses that are fun and inspire people through positive messages. My mission is to celebrate the beauty of the world, as well as the different cultures and experiences and inspire people through travel & visual storytelling. I’m also the founder of Chasing Africa, which is the creative agency behind one of the largest Instagram communities in South Africa @instagram_sa. We create content designed for social media (not traditional) and we’ve done this for some large brands in SA. We’ve helped clients generate a return on social media by analysing data constantly. We connect arguably the best content creators with the top brands in South Africa and Africa and we strive to create content that is engaging to maximize return on investment for our clients.

How did you discover your calling?
Through lots and lots of failure.
What do you love most about what you do?
I get to travel and meet awesome people.
What do you like the least about what you do?
Things don’t always go according to plan.
Who or what has been your biggest motivators ?
Lockdown has forced me to change the way I operate.
Have you experienced fear along the way & how did you overcome it?
Yes of course! Jumping off a bridge or out of a plane is pretty scary but knowing that you did it is so the best feeling in the world.
What are your greatest achievement/s?
A few years ago I visualised myself traveling the world and in 2017 I left my day job selling MINI’s and I started traveling as much as I could.
Who do you thank for your success?
All my failure. Failure is probably the best teacher. It sucks when it happens but you learn form it.
What upcoming projects do you have?
Building the biggest group of Premium Creators in Africa
How are you currently coping with the #Covid19 Crisis?
Pretty well actually. My business was born in lockdown 🙂
Any words of encouragement for other male creatives out there?
You are not going to get out of life alive so you might as well do everything in your power to make your dream become a reality. Don’t be afraid of fucking up… it’s going to happen and you’re going to learn from it.
