REVIEW:
THE GREEK FISHERMAN
Savour some authentic Grecian goodness at this local Greek gem at V & A Waterfront in my favourite city, Cape Town.
Greeted by the welcoming Piscean placemats and friendly staff, I eagerly grabbed a seat with a harbour view.
With a wide variety of tapas, it was a tough choice but I finally settled on some mussels in tomato & feta; lamb biftekas; pitas paired with a trio of Tzatziki, Taramasalata & Humus dips and a Greek salad of course.
Not normally a fan of shellfish, but I have to say these mussels were some of the tastiest morsels I’ve had. Not tough, not chewy but just right! The tender lamb bifteka’s with hidden cheesy centres just melted in my mouth. Not to mention the warm pita bread dipped in heavenly humus had me begging for more.If Seafood is not your thing, don’t fret there is also poultry, meat and vegetarian options available. Not your average seafood restaurant with it’s uber chic fully stocked bar inside..definitely not one to be missed!
This restaurant is family friendly and caters for children too.
With the wonderful winter warmer special currently on offer, you simply have to get down here and taste it for yourself!

REVIEW: THE CITY GRILL STEAKHOUSE
This is not your average steakhouse, this modern Afro-Centric steakhouse-by-the-sea delights locals & foreigners alike with their wide variety of meats from your average beef; ostrich; chicken to the not-so-average springbok, kudu and even crocodile are on offer.
All the African delicacies are cleverly indicated on the menu by a small South African flag, making it easy for International guests to try some authentic African fare.
Another notable feature is the placemats, each representing a different wild animal. A range of snakeskin, paw prints, leopard print and more!
My adventurous carnivorous palate settled for a nice sumptuous Springbok steak and a juicy Ostrich kebab drenched in pepper sauce, both served with a hearty side of vegetables and savoury rice, paired with a delicious glass of house red, the luscious Leopard’s Leap pinotage.
I was pleasantly surprised as neither left me with a gamey aftertaste; that one usually expects when eating wild meat. They were both excellently prepared!
The wine list is as varied as the menu, and you’re sure to find something to suit every taste and if you get stuck you can always ask their in house sommelier for a recommendation or food pairing. That is which wines would be suitable for the dishes you’re ordering.
For the non-carnivores, there are poultry and vegetarian friendly options available, plus a menu for the kids!
You can even grab yourself some biltong to go from their awesome biltong bar.
So take your taste buds on safari and get down to City Grill Steakhouse to experience their amazing winter special!
*Biltong – South African dried/cured meat, not mechanically processed like jerky

MELONCINO
You’ll find more than pizza and pasta at this modern contemporary Italian restaurant.
With a little bit of everything on the menu for everyone, this time I opted for something sweet.
A delicious and artfully plated torta strepitosa ai 3 cioccalati with strawberries, sliced oranges, fresh baked wafer and vanilla ice cream on the side.
The chocoholic in me died and went straight to heaven!
It’s hard not to fall in love with this place with its chic, sophisticated décor and extensive wall of wine on display. Better yet, is the amazing view of one of the 7 natural wonders of the world, Table Mountain, whilst you dine.
Whether it’s something sweet or savoury you’re after, come experience La Dolce Vita at Meloncino!

For excellent service, delicious food or perhaps a little something different, you really need to get yourself down to the V & A Waterfront and try it for yourself!
As always,
